Paper Lessons
Making Paper (Recycling old newspaper)
Any Age Level
1. Tear up newspaper and soak in water overnight 2. Blend soaked newspaper and the same amount of water into a pulp (about a cup of the paper to about a cup of water) 3. If the "colored confetti" look, like pictures, is wanted added small torn up pieces of colored construction paper. Blend again for just a second to distribute the color 4. Place the screen in the big pan and pour the pulp into the center of the pan. 5. Push the pulp around to create the shape and size you want your piece of paper to be. 6. Lift screen and drain water. 7. Place screen on towels (or pile of un-torn newspaper) and put piece of wax paper over pulp. 8. Use wooden board to squeeze excess water out of pulp and flatten into paper! 9. Flip over and let paper completely dry on wax paper |
Supplies: newspaper, small scraps of construction paper, blender, screen (screen door), towels, big pan, wax paper, flat wood board
